Personalized medicines from the 3D pharmaceutical printer
As part of the “Forum Gesundheitsstandort BW” funding initiative, the member of state parliament Mr Dörflinger (LK Biberach) found out about the innovative possibilities of digitalization in the healthcare sector and had the pharmaceutical printer developed by the Swabian company DiHeSys explained to him. The printer can be used to print several active ingredients with flexible dosage in one tablet, as prescribed by the doctor. However, DiHeSys not only supplies the printer, including software developed in-house, but also the print cartridges filled with active ingredients in the highest pharmaceutical quality. This complete solution enables the company to guarantee digital personalized drug production with the required drug safety.
Dr. Markus Dachtler, CEO of DiHeSys, presented the portable printer live: “Our focus is on the patient. In future, pharmacies will be able to print the medication that the patient really needs on site and on demand, with a customized dosage.” MdL Dörflinger is convinced by the technology: “This can reduce side effects and significantly reduce pharmaceutical waste from unused tablets.”
The start-up company recently formed a strategic alliance with the Swabian pharmaceutical machine manufacturer Harro Höfliger, which has 1400 employees and a turnover of €285 million, in order to quickly make personalized therapy available for widespread use.
